2020 HOME WINEMAKERS CLASSIC

Please join us for the 37th Home Winemakers Classic

at the CIA at Copia in downtown Napa.

After 36 fantastic years, the HWC, long hosted by the Dry Creek-Lokoya Volunteer Fire Department, will now be organized by the Mt. Veeder Fire Safe Council.  We see  only positive changes to the event and expect that home winemakers will continue to pour their wines and attendees will come and enjoy them, bid on fabulous prizes, and support your local fire safe efforts.

ABOUT US

This event originated in 1982 by the Dry Creek-Lokoya Volunteer Fire  Department as an event to raise money for their volunteer efforts.  Over the years It has been held at Domaine Chandon, Silverado Winery, Monticello Winery, Groezinger Estates, St. Supery, Far  Niente, and Charles Krug. And now the CIA at Copia. This year (2020), the Mt. Veeder Fire Safe Council takes over the event and provides the same exciting venue for home winemakers to show off their wines and for attendees to partake in them, enjoy snacks prepared by CIA and to score prizes in the incredible silent auction. What better way to support the MVFSC and by extension, the Dry Creek-Lokoya Volunteer Fire Department?

JUDGING RESULTS

Each year a professional judging panel is formed to judge the home wines entered for the event.  Mary Pisor, our current Chair of the Wine Judging Panel puts together professional winemakers, barrel makers, and enologists from various locations throughout Napa Valley.  This is one of the most important parts of the Home Winemakers Classic as it gives professional feedback on their wines.

The judging panel does not automatically award a ribbon just because a wine has been entered.  Each wine must meet the requirements of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., place wine or no award is given.

Attendee Awards are also given. So, please join us and vote for your favorite white and red.

Please see below for the 2019 judging results.
